Sri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Mines & Steel visits RINL Sri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Mines & Steel who is on a visit to RINL reviewed the performance of the Steel Plant in a meeting with senior officials today. Shri Tomar commended the efforts made by workers and officers of RINL in reviving the Plant in record time after Hudhud tragedy last year. While reviewing the progress of Modernization and expansion, the minister expressed concern over time and cost over runs and advised to conduct root cause analysis for delay and other reasons could be pinpointed for avoidance in future. The loss of time and money would be more damaging if units are not stabilized after commissioning at the earliest, he added. Shri Tomar remarked that modernization, expansion, cost reduction and energy savings must be reflected in profitability. He said that visit of Prime Minister will be a proud occasion for all of us and we must make it memorable for times to come. Shri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL expressed gratefulness to the Minister for providing guidance and support as and when required. He assured the Minister that quick action will be initiated on his observations. He shared details of RINL vision plan in tune with 300 million tonne target of Govt. of India. Earlier Hon'ble Steel Minister accompanied by Dr K Haribabu, Hon'ble MP, Visakhapatnam and Smt Urvilla Khati, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel planted saplings at the Dedication Park inside the plant to mark the occasion. Sri Tomar then witnessed major production processes viz; Coke Oven Battery, Blast Furance-3, Steel Melt Shop-2 and Wire Rod Mill-2 during his plant visit. The Steel Minister was apprised of the arrangements being made for the ensuing Prime Minister's visit to RINL to dedicate the 6.3 mtpa expansion to the Nation in the month of July'15.
