State Minority Commissions As per information available with National Commission for Minorities(NCM), the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Sikkim, Tripura & UTs of Chandigarh, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands have not set up a Minority Commission in their States/UTs. Setting up of State Minorities Commissions comes under the purview of the respective State Governments. However, National Commission for Minorities has, from time to time, taken up the matter with State Governments for setting up of State Minorities Commissions. This information was given by Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Minister of State (IC) for Minority Affairs, in reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
