Timely disposal of Public Grievances As per the guidelines issued by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, a grievance is required to be redressed within a period of two months. In case, it is not possible an interim reply with reasons for delay is required to be provided. However, due to federal structure of governance, each State can also create its own grievance redress mechanism prescribing different timelines for redress of public grievances. The grievances received in the nodal Departments/offices of Central Government which pertain to State Governments are forwarded to them for appropriate action. This was stated by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in Prime Ministers office Dr. Jitendra Singh in written reply to a question by Shri Md. Nadimul Haque in the Rajya Sabha today.
