Diarrhoea also spelled as diarrhea can be described as very frequent passage of stool by the body is watery or liquid form. Diarrhea can be caused due to infection, gastroenteritis, antibiotics, imbalance of intestinal microbiota and some other reasons as well. When suffering from a bout of diarrhea it is recommended that the individual consume only simple digestible meals and drink enough water to keep himself hydrated. Mostly diarrhea can be controlled by over the counter medicines but there are some natural methods which can also be used to cure diarrhea too. These natural treatments can also help the body in its task of cleaning and regulating the bowel. Mentioned below are some of these natural cures for diarrhea.

Carrot juice - Carrot juice is a great regulator of digestive function. It increases the resistance to infections. It also improves liver function and cleanses the body. Drink a glass or two of carrot juice a day, or more depending on the digestive tolerance. Be careful not to consume too much because one may increase diarrhea in the said scenario. Ideally, one should make his own carrot juice using a juice extractor but if that is not ideal then one may also buy the carrot juice from an organic store.
Probiotics - Probiotics are particularly beneficial in case of diarrhea, especially those which have been caused due to the use of antibiotics. Probiotics help regulate the digestive bacterial environment by repopulating the intestine with good bacteria. Choose only good quality probiotics sold in pharmacies or organic stores.

Thyme herbal tea - Thyme is known for its anti-infective, antiseptic and antifungal properties. It helps fight fights bad bacteria and also has an antispasmodic effect on the digestive system. Infuse 2 teaspoons thyme in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Drink 3 cups a day. Remember to drink plenty of water, in addition to herbal tea.

Basil essential oil - Basil is a digestive tonic with antispasmodic and anti-stress properties. It works both for the digestive and nervous system. It is particularly beneficial for stress related diarrhea because it will reduce spasms and sudden pain. In the palm of your hand, put 2 drops of basil essential oil dilute it with 10 drops of any vegetable oil such as olive oil or sweet almond oil, then massage the belly in clockwise direction. Do this ideally for 5 minutes in the evening before sleeping, while breathing deeply. One may also repeat the treatment 2-3 times per day.

Hypertonic quinton water - Hypertonic quintone water replenishes the body with minerals and trace elements, substances that are lost in large quantities during a diarrhea phase. Quinton water is available in organic stores in the form of ampoules. Take 1 to 3 ampoules a day; one may also prolong the treatment after the illness to fill the gaps caused by a long-lasting diarrhea. Avoid hypertonic Quinton water if one has high blood pressure or is on a diet without salt.

Green clay milk - Clay has great absorbent properties and allows faster elimination of toxins related to diarrhea. It also helps to regulate the transit of stool. Mix a tablespoon of green clay (ultra-ventilated or superfine sold in organic stores) in a glass of water. Be careful to use wooden or terracotta utensils and never metal. Let it stand all night. The next morning, mix the water and the clay and drink all.

Vegetable activated charcoal - It is one of the best natural detoxifiers. It purifies the intestine and regulates the transit of stool. It particularly soothes diarrhea related to intestinal fermentation (bad bacteria). One can take with a large glass of water, 2 to 4 capsules per day few hours apart in case of diarrhea, until the disappearance of the symptoms.
Blond psyllium - Blond psyllium is a regulator of the intestine and is beneficial for both diarrhea and constipation. In case of diarrhea, psyllium absorbs excess water in the intestines, and helps regulate digestive function by allowing the stool to become solid again. Dilute 1 to 2 tablespoons of blond psyllium powder available at organic stores in a large glass of water and consume the same once a day.
