Ukrainian confectionery tycoon Petro Poroshenko has reportedly won in the country's presidential election, with 55 percent votes.
According to CNET, Mr Poroshenko promised to build closer links with Europeans and restore peace in agitated eastern regions.
However, Pro-Russian separatists severely disrupted voting and not a single polling station was open in Donetsk city, across the region only seven out of 12 district electoral commissions were operating.
Russia's reaction to the result is still not clear, but President Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow will respect the election results.
