Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has said the country's economic recovery is still fragile, but has promised to promote growth by opening markets to private and foreign competition.

Premier Li spoke at a business forum in Dalian that China's economic fundamentals were stable, but cautioned that the global economy faced a complex situation, News.com.au reports.

Li also promised to improve the investment climate for foreign companies.

According to the report, China's factory output and other activity improved in August.

However, the country's growth fell to a two-decade low of 7.5 percent in the last quarter.

Analysts warned that the rebound is underpinned by government spending, but it might not last.
