The sdparent company of European aircraft maker Airbus has bought back almost half a billion euros worth of its own stock from the French government.
EADS says it bought a 1.56% stake from the French government for 482.7 million euros as part of the company's ongoing 3.7 billion euros share buyback program launched this month. The French state still owns about 13% of EADS.
The move comes day after Daimler AG announced it had sold its entire 7.5% stake in EADS as it refocuses on its core car business.
In its statement today, EADS said it had bought about a quarter of the shares Daimler sold for 600 million euros.
