Egypt has reportedly announced early presidential elections prior to parliamentary polls.

The announcement was made in the wake of dozens of killings during violent clashes in the country.

Meanwhile, speculations are ripe that army chief General Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, who played an important role in ousting Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, may be signed up as a suitable candidate in the upcoming elections, News 24 reported.

Adly Mansour, the interim president declared the poll a day after people died in clashes between Islamist protesters and the police, while thousands of people came out on streets in Cairo to show their support to the military chief.
