In 2016 alone, Asia reported losses worth $87 billion from 320 natural disaster events. Flooding accounted for 47 per cent of all weather-related global disasters between 1995- 2015, the United Nation’s Office for Disaster Risk Reduction said in a report. Of the 2.3  billion people affected, 95 per cent were in Asia.
