Michelle & Barack Obama to turn producers; sign deal with Netflix

Obamas have entered into a multi-year agreement to produce films and series for Netflix, potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features

Former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have inked a multiyear deal with Netflix to produce original TV shows and movies, the streaming service has announced.

Sometimes the former president and first lady will be on camera as hosts or moderators, in other cases they will stay behind the scenes as producers, CNN reported, citing the anonymous sources, as saying.  
 

Netflix chief executive Ted Sarandos said that the Obamas are uniquely position to discover and highlight stories of people who make a difference in their communities.

Barack Obama recently appeared as a guest on David Letterman's Netflix talk show.

However, the streaming service giant did not elaborate on the terms of the agreement.

Netflix's unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership," several media reports quoted Michelle Obama, as saying, in a statement.

This is not the first deal the Obamas have sealed ever since they left the White House in early 2017.

According to several media reports that February, Penguin Random House had announced that the company would publish books by both Barack and Michelle Obama.
