Japan-based IT solutions provider Nomura Research Institute has acquired Kolkata-based IT consultant Anshin Software (Anshinsoft) as part of efforts to expand global sales of its computer systems for financial transactions.

"NRI and Anshinsoft have a long-standing relationship and this is the natural next step in our partnership," NRI Corporate Senior Vice-President and Asset Management Systems Division Manager Shin Kusunoki said in a statement.

He added that the acquisition of Anshinsoft, capitalised at Rs 57 lakh, complements NRI's existing solutions. Anshinsoft has 180 local employees and this will be NRI's 18th office outside Japan.

"It is important that we continue to expand our business through multiple channels and enhance our services for clients across the globe," Kusunoki said.

Following this acquisition, Anshinsoft is being renamed Nomura Research Institute Financial Technologies India, the statement said.

NRI said Anshinsoft has had a business relationship with NRI for the last 10 years, providing support for development and maintenance of back-office solutions in the securities business of NRI.

This is the second major investment in India for NRI over the last 12 months, including the establishment of Nomura Research Institute India, it added.
