Pet animals, 100 kg of medical supplies on board MH17 flight

Flight was also carrying 1,452 kg of lithium batteries

Pet animals including two dogs and nine birds, 100 kg of medical supplies and 1,452 kg of lithium batteries were on board the downed MH17 plane which was carrying 298 passengers.

Almost 100 kg of medical supplies were on board the plane when it crashed in the Donetsk region in Ukraine, according to the flight's cargo manifest.

According to the cargo manifest, the medical supplies were among the items registered in the "special load" category.

The flight was also carrying 1,452 kg of lithium batteries.

Besides the medical supplies and batteries, pet animals including two dogs, five birds and four pigeons as well as 215 kg of fresh cut flowers, textiles, helicopter and aircraft parts and diplomatic mail were also part of the cargo.

The Boeing 777 which was shot down by a missile on Thursday over Ukraine allegedly by pro-Russian rebels had 298 passengers who are all believed to have been killed.

Flight MH17 was enroute to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport when it crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border.
