Sharif not to withdraw complaint against Musharraf, says prosecutor

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stood by his pledge not to withdraw his complaint against former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf during the trial, said Akram Sheikh, the public prosecutor in the treason case.

Sheikh said he had been happy with the growth of the case thus far. It was after the Prime Minister's assurance that Sheikh decided to take up the case.

Sheikh further added that this case was financially damaging for him, as clients did not wish to sign him up after this case.

This was a case of discrimination, as Musharraf had been singled out for announcing the emergency on November 3, 2007, said Sheikh.

Sheikh also said in a statement that he has had a history of family ties with the premier, reports the Express Tribune.

A member of defence team said that they would drag the trial because there was no pardon in these cases even from the President of the country.
