Apple is all-set to host an event in San Francisco on September 9 during which it is expected to unveil new iPhones, a revamped Apple TV and operating system updates called iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Captain.

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

Apple changed its iPhone formula the last time around, but with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus the biggest addition should be Force Touch. Apple introduced the technology on the Apple Watch and is expected to make its way to the iPhone to enable new input methods.

Apart from this, the new iPhones should get the updated A9 processor and are also expected to come with 12-megapixel primary camera units and 5-megapixel front-facing units.

Apple TV

Apple hasn't changed the hardware for Apple TV in over three years. The new Apple TV is expected to feature a new processor, possibly one out of older iPads. Other changes will include the addition of a microphone in the remote and possibly bring iOS games to the television. While the company's set-top-box might get an upgrade, it's highly unlikely that a web television service that's been rumoured for sometime now will be launched on September 9.

Apple showcased both its mobile as well as desktop OS back at WWDC, bringing quite a few welcome changes. iOS 9 for one will finally bring full-fledged multi-tasking to the iPad alongside transit directions for Apple Maps.

When it comes to OS X, Apple is retiring Helvetica as its stock font in favour of San Francisco, it's own typeface. Other changes include the introduction of pinned tabs in Safari and a way for users to snap apps to different portions of the display easily.

One more thing

Industry watchers are split over whether Apple will launch its long rumoured 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro at the September 9 event. The device, if launched, will be Apple's answer to Microsoft's Surface Pro line of tablets and will be aimed at enterprise professionals.

There is also the possible launch of a smaller iPhone 6c which will cater to users that find the iPhone 6 too large.

Apple will live stream the event on September 9 at 10:30 p.m. IST on the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac and Apple TV. The company surprised everyone by announcing that users of Windows devices will be able to watch the event provided they're running Microsoft Edge.
