The annual alumni meet of the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies was held on March 20 in Mumbai. "Nostalgia 2004" was an occasion for alumni of JBIMS to interact with members of the corporate world at an informal level. Over 500 graduates of the B-school were present at the event; the oldest batch present was the one from 1969. |

Trends watch on financial markets |

The Welingkar Institute of Management (WIM) hosted a convention on "'Emerging trends in financial markets" on March 19. At the event, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor K J Udeshi spoke about the major trends in the Indian banking sector, while Tata Mutual Funds CEO Ved Prakash provided an insight into investment strategies in mutual funds. |

Other speakers included ENAM Securities Director Manish Chokhani, Knight Frank Chairman Pranay Vakil and Zoom Cortex Group Chairman John Band. Some other topics discussed included trends in the real estate industry, foreign investments and overall market trends. |

The 13th annual convocation of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, was held recently. The chief guest of the evening was Tarun Das, the former director general and now chief mentor of the Confederation of Indian Industry. Also present was the chairman of the XIMB board of directors, Rajive Kaul, who presided over the ceremony. |

The convocation saw the launch of two publications from XIMB: the XIMB Journal of Management, under the guidance of Prof Nina Jacob, called Vilakshan; and Fin Shastra, a publication by X-Fin, the students' finance association of the institute. |
