After eight challenging rounds, it was the CMR IMS team from Bangalore that finally won the trophy and a gift cheque of Rs 15,000 in the Business Standard B-School Quiz for business management institutes held at Vels University here today.
Vels University sponsored a total cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the contest, in which the winner in every regional round gets Rs 15,000 and the runner-up, Rs 10,000.
After winning the trophy, CMR IMS' Dilin Abraham Kuriakose and A N Gaurav said they faced a tough fight from the runner-up team comprising Atul M Nair and Rahul A Jain from CMS B-School, Bangalore.
One question that stumped all the finalists was: Identify the trade name that was registered by British traders Carless, Capel and Leonard in 1870 and which was sold in small bottles as a treatment against lice and their eggs. While the contestants found the question intriguing and went on making guesses including wine, rum, whisky, vodka, beer, and even turbine oil, they all failed as the correct answer was petrol.
