BITS Pilani Hyd to take off in July 2008

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani "� popularly known as BITS Pilani "� based in Rajasthan, is likely to offer its programmes from July 2008 at its new campus coming up on a 200-acre land in Hyderabad.
 
"The Hyderabad campus will offer engineering and sciences programmes with an annual intake of 600 students," BITS vice-chancellor L K Maheshwari said in Mysore today. The campus, the third after Goa and Dubai campuses, is being planned with a budget of Rs 160 crore.
 
The Dubai campus was launched in 2000 with programmes to cater to the educational requirements of the West Asia, while the Goa campus, the largest institute in the state on a 180-acre land, started in 2004-05.
 
Maheshwari, explaining BITS' academic programmes here, said BITS had established a Centre for Entrepreneur Leadership to foster entrepreneurship through activities like business plan competition, technology fairs, entrepreneurship seminars and conference.
 
Known for its high quality education worldwide and recognised as one of the top universities in the world and one among the five top universities in the country, BITS innovation of a Practice School (PS), he said had won laurels in the country and abroad.
 
He said BITS had signed MoUs with 30 universities and institutions in the US.
