In its efforts to boost case research on banking and financial services, Bank of Baroda (BoB) on Monday announced a contribution of over Rs 2 crore to the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A).

The funding is part of the institute's effort to reach out to the industry and collaborate onfield-based research, IIM-A stated in an official communique.

"This fund will sustain development of cases in banking and financial sector. Case studies are a wonderful means to conducting cutting-edge field-based, inductive research. The case materials that are produced will be available for research and teaching not only at IIMA, but also to other institutions, as we have been doing in the past with our case research," said Ashish Nanda, Director, IIM-A.

While Bank of Baroda has been keen on supporting quality research in the banking and finance sector, IIM-A is focusing intensively on strengthening its case centre.

Commenting on the announcement, Ranjan Dhawan, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of Baroda said, "One should not see Bank of Baroda's contribution in the light of only funding research output of IIM-A. It is an amalgamation of a shared vision to make a difference in the quality of available research cases to benefit the sector. Bank of Baroda, as a leading bank, has always been committed to quality internal training and has been supportive of similar initiatives."
