China a study material for Indian B-Schools

Thirty students from Ahmedabad based Nirma Institute of Management (NIM), will be visiting China to study the emerging business opportunities in China.

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will also plan some international activity in China in the near future.

"We are planning to take students of MBA in Family Business and Enterprise to China and other emerging economies in the region like Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong. These students will have academic classes in association with Chinese universities, followed by interaction with the Chinese entreprenuers." said Pawan Kumar Chugan, chairperson of the course at NIM.

Recently, IIM-A invited Yasheng Huang, professor at MIT Sloan School of Management for its international B-school meet 'Confluence 2004,' for a panel discussion on comparative advantages of China, India and East Asia as investment destinations for foreign direct investment.

His recently published book, 'Selling China' examines the institutional drivers of foreign direct investment (FDI) in China.

Sujan R Chinoy, Consul - General of India in Sanghai, China, said "Students from India come here to study the Chinese model of economy. There are unlimited oportunities to learn from the world's fastest growing economy. The Chinese government has set up an objective to increase a two-way trade between India-China US $ 13.6 billion at present to US $ 20 billion by 2008 and US $ 30 billion by 2010. So China provides a lot of learning opportunity to the overseas students."

Even the third 'Made in India' (MII) show in Sanghai, People's Republic of China is scheduled to be held in October, this year, which aims to bring together the leading Indian and Chinese businesses on a common platform to tap the new business oportunities.
