B-School surveys are a marketing stunt to increase the recognition of the B-School in the eyes of aspirants. These B-Schools vie for top-notch positions in the rankings rolled out by dozens of management journals. This competition among the management schools often ends in biased rankings which distorts the mind of aspirants endlessly.

Ranking is a window to the management world for an MBA aspirant which helps students and parents to digest the data and arrive at the "best" option from over 1,300 AICTE approved institutions. The parameters for the suvey" B-school's infrastructure, library, internet connectivity, financial aid, hostel facility, teaching methodology, placement record, et al help the student with relevant information which the websites of many b-schools fail to do. It certainly does not distort the mind of students.

Surveys conducted by a lot of agencies are not authentic. With a plethora of options open to students, it leaves them confused and looking for genuine information which could guide them in their decision making. The media and various magazines publish the list of top B-Schools but we can hardly rely on those publications. A lot of agencies rate the schools on different parametres, giving the same institute a different ranking, thus creating confusion in the students mind. As a result, students are losing their interest in these surveys and this is raising a question mark on the credibility of these rankings.
