The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) will be holding an Entrepreneurship Fair on September 25 to provide a platform to MBA students seeking summer internships at start-ups so that they can network and learn about the challenges that they may face while setting up their own ventures.
Encouraged by the overwhelming response to the fair last year, the Placement Committee at IIMA will be working again with the IIM-A Entre Club and the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) to host this event on IIMA campus this year.
“IIMA has increasingly become a hub of entrepreneurial activities and I think this effort of Entre Fair is a great addition. We meet quite a few students who are about to graduate and find it hard to choose between entrepreneurship and job and I think this event can be a very good middle path for such students too," said Pranay Gupta, Joint chief operating officer (CEO) of CIIE.
In an effort to foster the entrepreneurial spirit among students, the institute has also sent invites to other B-schools, so that students can meet with start-up firms and network. The event has already received over 100 registrations from other B schools in the country for participation.
"We were happy to be a part of the Entrepreneurship Fair 2008 as we had IIMA students interning with us in 2009. Coming after a hiatus of two years, we hope to not only interact with potential interns but also generate enough enthusiasm for a 2012 graduate, who want to become a part of Phonon. Interaction with other start-ups and seeing all the work revolving around innovation is also another aspect of the fair that we look forward to," said Ujwal Makhija, CEO of Phonon.
