Delhi-based premier management school Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) has recorded 100 per cent summer placements for the batch of 2011 comprising 142 MBA students and 63 MBA (Management of Services) students. Besides traditional recruiters like P&G, HUL, Standard Chartered and HSBC, first-time recruiters like Nomura services, Lazard Ltd and JP Morgan Chase also picked up students.

FMS follows the Delhi University calendar that begins from July 1 and summer placements happen before the autumn break in October.

“A total of 140 companies confirmed with 84 visiting the campus. Students were placed in three slots spread over seven days and 31 new companies visited this year. International stints were offered by firms like Juniper Capital and ADL,” said Rahul Sachdev, secretary, corporate relations and placements at FMS.

The average stipend this year was Rs 30,000 similar to last year. The highest domestic stipend for the year stood at Rs 1 lakh while the highest international stipend was $2,400 (around Rs 1.1 lakh).

“This year, the focus was also on new sectors like pharmaceutical, media and advertising and manufacturing. Pharma majors like Astra Zeneca, Eli Lilly and Genzyme came for the first time,” said Simrinder Kaur, FMS’ joint secretary, media relations.

Sector wise, 42 per cent students got marketing profiles from firms like Microsoft and Idea while 36 per cent students got profiles in finance. “IT and operations have comprised 8 per cent of overall placements as these firms are never big recruiters at FMS. Aricent was one such recruiter,” added Mufeed ur Rahman, FMS’ media relations secretary. General management and consulting comprised the rest 16 per cent.
