The United Kingdom-based University of Hertfordshire, will offer œ200,000 worth of international scholarships to Indian students. |
The university announced the launch of its new international scholarships scheme, the 'Chancellor's International Scholarships' to help prepare students in India for the global economy. |

Under the scheme, the university will award 100 scholarships worth œ2,000 each to students taking up a place in 2007-8. The successful candidates will join more than 2,000 overseas students of which there are more than 400 from India. |

Scholarships are available across the full range of the university's full-time under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes including: Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Psychology, Pharmacy, Art and Design, Film, Music and Media, Humanities and Law. |

Chennai Business School (CBS) has opened its campus in Bhubaneswar. For the moment, CBS would be offering two post-graduate programmes in retail management ( PGPRM) and in management and insurance ( PGPMI). |

The duration of the courses would be of one-year with a course fee of Rs 2.5 lakh per annum for PGPRM and Rs 1.25 lakh for PGPMI. While PGPMI will admit 100 students, PGPRM will admit 40 students. With opportunities available in future, CBS plans to introduce courses also in telecom, information technology (IT) and human resource (HR) management. |

The PGPMI being introduced by CBS is a job-assured programme where tie-ups have been worked out with ICICI Prudential Life. |

CBS is also keeping its options open for finding out counsels for retail management, and in that case avenues would be explored to enter into MoUs with retail giants. |

Doctoral summer school at XIM-B |

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIM-B) is hosting a one-week doctoral summer school (DSS) programme on its campus. |

The annual event aims at improving the quality of doctoral education in management and is being attended by 17 researchers from 10 different institutions spread across the country. |

The theme for summer school this year is "Fundamentals of Management Research." |
|
The programme is being subsidised by XIMB to the extent of about 50 per cent in order to facilitate the participation of doctoral students who often have to live in meagre academic stipends. |

Mumbai University's radio |

Mumbai University has launched its own community radio channel called Radio MUST. An acronym for "Mumbai University Student's ransmission", the creation stems from the initiative taken by the vice chancellor, University of Mumbai. |

The equipment used will be a standard radio equipment. Total amount invested to set up the channel is aroudn Rs 24 lakh. The station will focus on both education as well as entertainment. |

The station will have students as radio jockeys and will be on air initially in the mornings and evenings from 7 pm to 9 am. |
