i-flex solutions, a global player in providing IT solutions to the financial services industry, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to provide technology support to 'Karnataka Schools towards Quality Education'. |
The initiative, launched by state chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday, aims to significantly improve the quality of elementary education in the schools across the state. |

Under the MoU, i-flex will develop a comprehensive decision support system (DSS) at its own cost, to help the education department monitor the quality of elementary education in schools in the state. |

The DSS will enable the department to make well-informed and data-driven decisions at all levels, a company statement said. |

"The state has taken a revolutionary step in leveraging technology to strengthen the elementary education system. Strengthening basic education is fundamental to the future of our country and I am happy we are able to contribute to the cause," said Deepak Ghaisas, CEO, India Operations and CFO, i-flex solutions. |

Estimated to cost about Rs 1 crore, the DSS is being developed by i-flex's centre for business intelligence in two phases. |

According to the company, the first phase has just been completed and has helped Karnataka quality assessment organisation, analyse the quality of education of around 19 lakh children in 41,000 schools in 32 districts. |

Ghaisas said that i-flex will also work with the policy planning unit and e-Governance unit of the education department, and provide project management support to implement information analytics, data warehousing and decision support system. |
