The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), National Institute of Design and Gujarat University may soon become integrated campuses (iCampuses).

A proposal sent by CEON Solutions, a startup company incubated at IIM-A’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship, offers to provide an integrated campus run through a single software hosted in a US-based server.

Under the proposal, sent through its division called CEON iCampus Pvt Ltd, the company intends to provide an online platform for all activities on campus, and collaborates for multi-dimensional development of the student. The various tools of iCampus are designed to achieve e-ducation, transparency, accountability and e-Governance in institutes.

“iCampus is an internationally awarded intelligent online software solution to enhance the quality of education. It will help colleges bridge the gap between internal, external users as well as between departments. We have made the proposals to IIM-A, NID and talks are on with Gujarat University,” says Abhay Panjiyar, CEO and MD of CEON Solutions.

“We have received an iCampus proposal from CEON and are in the process of considering it. But it’s too early to comment on it as things are being worked out,” said a source at IIM-A.

What’s more? iCampus can also be used as a portal to target specific students. For instance, if a company wants to put ads on the portal targetting only students of finance, then it can do so ensuring that the ads do not reach students of any other specialisation.

The management and faculty can have personal email accounts on the iSchool server and an external user can get an idea of the performance of the institute.

The rent for an iCampus model would be between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15, 000 per month and will be between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 40 lakh on purchase.

“This will be the first campus Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in the country to be based on the the SaaS model, where the universities do not need to install and run the application on their own computer. Also, a server may cost Rs 80 lakh in the market. iCampus will be the Google for campus ERP and will cost only one-tenth of ERP with just basic internet access. The iCampus software is 20 times more helpful than other software, which only deal with the fees, results and other basic details of the students.”

Other institutes that have been approached with a similar offer are Nirma University in Ahmedabad, University of Bikaner in Rajasthan and Chandragupta Institute of Management, a B-school that functions on the pattern of IIM in Patna. Once they get the nod, the company intents to implement the model in two months’ time.Currently, the iCampus model is in the process of implementation at Ganapat University in Mehsana, Gujarat.

CEON Solutions provides integrated Education Process Management Solutions and Consultancy to educational Institutes.

The company already has a similar product for schools called i-School, a knowledge-based software package for schools, besides an NGO Resource Planning Solutions and Police Inventory Management software.
