The third edition of the annual summer school hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) from June 2 to June 7 will for the first time see international participants, including doctoral students, researchers and faculty, learning specialised research methods.
"It is for the first time international candidates are participating in the summer school," said Arnab Laha, faculty co-ordinator, summer school at IIM-A.
The current summer school is a student-backed and institute-supported initiative. It attracted approximately 300 applications of which 80 have been selected through a rigorous selection process. Amongst these, 11 are overseas candidates from SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries.
The event will cover two parallel tracks -- Experiments in business & policy as well as qualitative research methods. The tracks will be conducted by instructors from IIMs, IITs, CLEAR (Regional Centers for Learning on Evaluation and Results) and a research scholar from Duke University.
The pedagogy for both the tracks will comprise of lecture series, in-class demonstrations, in-class discussions, presentations and field visits. Moreover, the event will also facilitate informal interactions amongst the participants through other activities and events.
The event will also include lighter activities such as a documentary screening, a stress audit workshop by DM Pestonjee, Chair Professor, PDPU, Gandhinagar and a heritage walk by IIM-A's heritage club.
