Despite the shortage in infrastructure which is forcing the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) to take the students off-campus, the premier B-school has launched one more programme to its bouquet of offerings.

The institute has announced the launching of a full-time executive post graduate programme in management (EPGP) in the current academic session. Designed for mid-career professionals, the one-year duration programme will have 73 students in the 2009-10 batch.

Malay Bhattacharyya, chairperson of EPGP said, “A unique feature of the programme is a comprehensive project wherein each participant will apply management concepts and methodologies in a real-life management problem.”

According to IIM-B, EPGP will extensively focus on emerging markets based on the conviction that future growth will come from such economies which require special focus and understanding. The students enrolled for the programme will undertake experiential study tours in BRIC countries and in Africa to understand the unique problems and opportunities in each of those countries.

IIM-B is currently offering a post graduate programme in software enterprise management (PGSEM) and a postgraduate programme in public policy and management (PGPPM), other than its flagship two-year postgraduate programme in management (PGP).

With an increase in the number of seats for the PGP due to implementation of the OBC quota, and the launching of the new programme, IIMB expects that the total enrollment will go up to about 1200 students by the end of the current academic session from the present 962.
