The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has announced admissions to the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) for 2013. It is a course for professionals interested in getting engaged in policy making and public system management.
The course was initially meant for mid-career officers from the civil services who have minimum seven years of experience. However, now it has been opened to candidates from outside the government as also to overseas candidates. So far, it has attracted officers from the entire range of services as well as from open candidates from various domains including software.
The programme is designed for professionals from non-government organisations, international agencies, public sector firms, infrastructure and social sectors, consulting and other service sectors. The programme targets professionals who have a minimum experience of five years.
In this programme, participants can choose electives from other IIM-B long duration programmes as well which further enables cross learning. Participants are encouraged to specialise in sectors through electives and a strong dissertation. The programme trains participants in leadership, communication and decision making skills.
The candidates from government are also given an opportunity to attend a module at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, New York, which provides an international perspective on global policy issues.
The last date for application is January 31, 2013.
