Some 130 companies and 403 students from the batch of the 2013-15 batch of the flagship post-graduate programme (PGP) participated in the placements for the summer internships at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) that concluded on Saturday.
Summer internship is an eight-week full-time industry experience for students when the recruiters get a chance to evaluate the candidate. These internships are often followed by final placements during the month of March.
According to Sankarshan Basu, chairman, Career Development Services - IIMB, told Business Standard: "Major players from investment banking, FMCG, IT, consulting, analysts and other sectors were there this time as well. As we have seen, with an increase in quality, the time taken by the entire process is getting shorter.”
He also added that three or four of the students offered to opt out as they had over 34 months of experience and hence, there's no need for them to go in for an internship.
