The Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta will host Arunima Sinha, the first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest, among other prominent achievers to speak to the students at an event on Friday.
Arunima Sinha, a former national level volleyball player was pushed out of a running train by thieves in 2011 while resisting them. One of her legs had to be amputated below the knee following the incident..
“IIM Calcutta has invited iconic luminaries who overcame significant hurdles in life for an inspirational lecture series - Real Icons of Change. The initiative is aimed at reaching out to leaders of tomorrow as well as those who accomplished spectacular achievements through high levels of personal endeavor”, the institute said in a statement.
“The idea is to help students interact with luminaries in order to inspire leaders and change makers of tomorrow”, the statement said.

The institute will also host Lt.Cdr Abhilash Tomy, the first Indian to circumnavigate the globe on a solo and nonstop voyage for 5 months and Max Chandra, who is walking across India to raise money for charity.
