IIM-K sees 36% jump in stipend for summer placements

Highest stipend offered this year is Rs 2 lakh

Summer placements at IIM Kozhikode has seen a 36%  increase in average stipend and a 20% increase in the number of offers per company for its summer placements.

The highest domestic stipend offered this year was Rs 2 lakh. The institute has wrapped up summer placements for the 17th batch of its flagship PGP programme.  

Top recruiters were Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, TataAdministrative Services (TAS), which selected 30 students.

"Nearly 20% of the batch secured internships in finance from such recruiters as Citibank, JPMC, American Express, ICICI, Edelweiss, Aviva, Dell and L&T. General management and consulting were represented by the likes of Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra Group, Philips, Cognizant Business Consulting, Reliance Industries and RPG," the institute said in a press statement.

New recruiters for the summer placements included L'Oreal, Godrej, Castrol, Cipla, Aviva, Altisource, Dell, InMobi, Whirlpool, Vodafone, Saint-Gobain, Aricent, Bosch and ACC.

Companies including HUL ITC, Asian Paints, Airtel, Madura and Raymond offered internships in sales and marketing while internships in operations and HR were offered by Asian Paints, L&T, Flipkart, Cipla, JSPL, Wildcraft and Genpact.

"The gender diversity was received extremely well by the recruiters. We are glad that we could cater to needs of the industry," said IIM-K director Debashis Chatterjee in a release. The institute has over 50% women, the highest percentage across all 13 IIMs.

Lateral placements at IIM Kozhikode will start in December 2013 and final placements in January 2014.
