IIM Kozhikode wraps up 100% summer placements in 6 days

Consulting, finance emerge top sectors with recruiters like Boston Consulting Group, Goldman Sachs, Axis Bank, Citi Bank and Credit Suisse

Despite having its largest batch size this year, the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) wrapped up the summer placements for its post graduate programme students in six days.

The summer placement process at IIM-K saw consulting and finance emerge as the top sectors, with overall 119 companies recruiting 364 students with an overall increase in the number of offers made per company.

Major recruiters like Boston Consulting Group, Goldman Sachs, Axis Bank, Citi Bank, JP Morgan, Microsoft, Google, American Express, Ernst & Young, HUL, ITC, Microsoft, Nestle and Credit Suisse, among others marked their presence on IIM-K campus.

What's more, new recruiters formed 45 per cent share of total participating companies including the likes of AMUL, Britannia, CEB, Credit Suisse, Colgate Palmolive, DE Shaw, Directi, IndiaMART, Kohler, Mytrah, Novartis, Piramal Group, Saint Gobain, Sun Pharma, and TAFE among others.

While the average stipend too continued its upward trend, the highest stipend offered was that of Rs 2.5 lakh. According to IIM-K, students were also offered positions in international locations across various sectors.

"In its 20 years of legacy, IIM Kozhikode has continued to provide the industry with students who are thought leaders and business front-runners in the making. With the successful close of the summer placement season, we yet again prove our caliber and reset benchmarks," said Kulbhushan Balooni, Director (In-Charge) IIM Kozhikode.

The sales and marketing vertical saw the highest number of recruiters with 45 per cent of the batch opting for this sector which included major recruiters like Britannia, Colgate Palmolive, Godrej, HUL, ITC, Kohler, Marico, PepsiCo, Shell and others. Following sales and marketing were roles in consulting and general management (24 per cent) and finance (17 per cent).

The finance sector saw a significant increase in participation this year with major firms like Altisource, Axis Bank, Citi Bank, Credit Suisse, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Yes Bank -and among others participating. On the other hand, the consulting domain witnessed participation from well-known names like Avalon Consulting, Boston Consulting Group, CEB, Cognizant, Ernst & Young, KPMG and Paramount.

"The IIM K brand has grown tremendously over the years which is reflected in the faith the recruiting partners both new and old have put in our students," said Priya Nair Rajeev, Chairperson, Placements at IIM Kozhikode while adding that the highest number of offers stood at 13, made by one of the major MNC.

Meanwhile, IIM-K students also showed inclination in working with "established" startups, the institute stated.
