IIM profs to teach design management

Professors of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) will take classes for the newly introduced course in strategic design management at the National Institute of Design, NID.
 
"The course will start from this academic session on June 23 and professor Abhijeet Mathur of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and professor Rishikesha Krishnan from IIM, Bangalore(IIMB) will teach our new batch of 12 students."said Darley O Koshi,executive director, NID.
 
NID is trying to rope more professors from IIMs as visiting faculty. We are eyeing professors related to design and creativity, Koshy added.
 
Talking to Business Standard, professor Rishikesha Krishnan of IIM, Bangalore said, "We are trying to combine best of design and best of business strategy through this course. so that the outcome is fruitful for any company NID's Krishnesh Mehta, co-ordinator of the programme said, "The new programme deals with business perception, understanding design, consumer behaviour,and research. Unlike MBA graduates who learn managing business we will teach creating future of the business "
 
Koshy said, "The new generation design managers will be different from typical MBA because of their understanding of design and how it operates at different levels and in different domains. They will be taught to bring about creative transformation in any venture that they undertake be it in business, NGO or academics".
