Students from various institutes across the country, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) will come together at the IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) campus to churn out ideas to minimise terrorism.
IIM-A's annual marketing event 'Insight-2009' will host 'Gujarat NRE National Integrity Theme Presentation' contest on October 10 and 11. The topic for the contest is 'Does Corruption feed Terrorism? How can we get rid of such Corruption?' According to the organisers of Insight 2009, "The youth needs to be sensitised on integrity and ensure that over a period of time, it is integrated in our lives. India’s march to become an economic superpower would get stalled if we do not stop the cancer of corruption from spreading. It is time for corporate India to take the lead."
The event will be a platform to diagnose and do a threadbare analysis of the nexus of corruption with terrorism. According to Arun Kumar Jagatramka, chairman and managing director, Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd, "National Integrity is not limited to the issues of honesty and ethical behavior but has wider connotations, such as the bribes that one pay, the 'hafta' and the 'hawalas' that are being routed to the terrorists, to fund their sinister activities. Corruption breeds terrorism. And we all knowingly or unknowingly go on supporting this menace.”
