The Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, (IIMK) and Abu Dhabi University have signed an MoU on collaborative education and exchange programme.

The MoU was signed by Prof Debashis Chatterjee, director of IIMK, and Prof Terrence Motiuk, vice chancellor of Abu Dhabi University on Monday.

IIMK plans to rapidly accelerate its international activities through selectively establishing partnerships with a greater number of institutions in different parts of the world. As a direct consequence of this process, IIMK is entering into a collaborative agreement with Abu Dhabi University (ADU) to establish presence in the West Asian region, an IIMK release said.

Besides having post graduate student exchange and faculty exchange as part of the MoU, the institutions will also explore the possibility of offering a dual degree programme. It will also consider the development of a yearly research conference and doctoral student colloquium to facilitate joint research and discussions between students and faculty members.

Both parties will consider the development of the faculty research fellows programme whereby faculty members will be eligible to be members of doctoral committees of students at both institutions.

The MoU allows to explore the possibility of launching an Executive MBA programme in Abu Dhabi specifically targeted at the immigrants from South Asia in Abu Dhabi. This would give opportunities for the students of the Post Graduate Programme at IIMK to undergo internships at leading organisations in the UAE. The agreement will also provide opportunities for faculty members of IIMK to undertake short-term teaching assignments at Abu Dhabi University and vice-versa.
