ISB meet to discuss role of education in innovation

In the context of the government designating 2010-20 as the Innovation Decade, the Indian School of Business (ISB) plans to hold a two-day Innovation Educators' conference, bringing together business leaders, policy makers, administrators, educators and trainers.

The conference, to be held on April 29-30, is aimed at creating frameworks for innovation education at all levels and identifying the policy barriers hindering creativity in the education system. It would bring to a single platform thought leaders who can demonstrate how the education system can enhance creativity and innovation, said an ISB release here today.

The participants include Sam Pitroda, chairperson, National Innovation Council; Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon; VN Rajasekharan Pillai, vice chancellor, Ignou; MS Ananth, director, IIT Madras; and Santanu Paul, CEO, TalentSprint.

Experts would put forth their views on the role of liberal arts in fostering innovation, changes needed in teaching methods, curriculum and institution design to enhance innovative capacity, industry-academia interactions, innovation in companies, managing innovations, among other things.

Case studies of teaching innovations, best practices and innovation methodologies, survey of literature and latest findings on the subject would also be presented.

The conference is open to policy makers and administrators in education and science and technology, academics from school and college principals to deans and vice chancellors of universities, corporate managers, trainers and consultants dealing with innovation and creativity.

Selected papers presented at the conference, which is being organised by the ISB’s Centre for Leadership, Innovation and Change (CLIC), would be circulated in hard copy and on the Web.
