The first batch of Indian School of Business (ISB)'s Technology Entrepreneurship Programme (TEP) will graduate on Thursday.

TEP is a semi-virtual programme designed in association with the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) and the Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG), Andhra Pradesh

The programme is also backed by blue-chip players including Microsoft, Google, Deloitte, HBR and Tata Motors. These companies would mentor potential technopreneurs who are from about 20 colleges in the two states.

TEP, supported by the governments of both the states, aims to provide an environment/experience for engineering students across all disciplines where they can create proof of concept (POC) models and enhance their own employability apart from exploring options to kick off their own start-ups, an ISB release stated.

Sujiv Nair, chief executive officer, TASK, said, "The programme has helped students widen their achievement motivation and more importantly is a planned effort to inculcate, develop and polish the capability and skills of a student to become and behave as an entrepreneur."

Sharing AP government's objective in supporting the programme, B Sundar, chief executive officer, IEG, said, "We have started the programme with a vision of creating an entrepreneurial civilisation by training young engineers in entrepreneurship and we hope that this programme helps in providing necessary ecosystem to the students for translating their knowledge into technology and then comercialisation."

During the event, winners of the Engineering Design Challenge will also be felicitated. The contest was conducted by ISB for the students, who had came up with product prototypes such as smart water heater, local positioning system, smart gas measuring device and a car fuel meter. A total of 71 teams submitted such prototypes, of which 21 teams were selected to attend a bootcamp where they received guidance from industry experts.
