Indian School of Business is organising an Accelerated Management programme to facilitate the transition of senior functional executives to highlyeffective general managers.
 
The programme will seek to develop a broad understanding of how to integrate across functions, optimise manpower and resources to get work done more efficiently and with superior results.
 
The players: Senior functional managers moving into positions where firm - wide multi functional perspectives are required.

Leaders Programme at IIM Calcutta
 
IIM Calcutta is launching a one-year Business Leaders programme in July. The objective is to facilitate acquisition of strategic and people-related skills to provide inputs on strategic leadership and perspective and to make participants aware of the capabilities required to move from a functional to general management positions .
 
Programme design: Four semesters, each of 90 days duration; in each semester, there will be 6 days of formal classes and 84 days of project work after the participants returns to their respective workplace One out of the four six-day classroom sessions will be held outside India. Projects are evaluated and graded by the IIM Calcutta faculty.
 
Fees: Rs 120,000/- + hostel charges
 
Who should attend: Only top managers with minimum 12 years of experience and 35 years of age. Participants with MBAs, post-graduate diploma in management, CAs, ICWAs, etc., will benefit the most.
 
Program starts on: July 2006 and all applications must come in by the end of May 2006.
 
Challenges for Indian MNCs
 
Dr V N Bedekar Institute of Research and Management Studies, Thane, will hold a seminar on "Challenges for Indian Multinationals" at its campus on May17. Infosys chairman Narayana Murthy will deliver the keynote address.

IIM Kozhikode conference
 
IIM Kozhikode is organising the ninth annual convention of the Strategic Management Forum from May 18-20. It has planned four major events to mark the occasion.

  • National Seminar on Global Business: Experiences and Challenges of Indian Companies"
  • Case Colloquium
  • Workshop on Curriculum Development

    The forum offers a platform to discuss curriculum design for teaching and training in strategic management practices. Teachers of management schools should ideally participate in this program.
     
    The residential registration fee for industry delegates is Rs 5,000; for academicians - Rs 3,500 and for doctoral students - Rs 1,500.
     
    International delegates will have to shell out $150 as registration fee which includes all lodging and boarding expenses at the Institute.
     
    Auckland university's MBA in India
     
    Auckland University of Technology (AUT) , New Zealand. and the Centre for Developmental Education (CDE), Bangalore, a non-profit educational society, have signed an agreement to provide a full-time, flexible 18-month MBA programme in India.
     
    The programme will begin from August 28 in Bangalore and is open to both"� working executives with three-year experience and graduates; the degree will be awarded by AUT. The course fees, NZ$ 20,000 (Rs. 6,00,000/- approx), can be payable in four equal instalments.
