Nirma University's Institute of Management is planning to take the fourth estate's view on Gujarat.

As part of its 10th International Conference on Management (NICOM 2007), 'Enhancing Enterprise Competitiveness,' the institute is mulling to organise a common platform for leading business journalists in the state to offer their analysis and opinions on the business affairs of the state.

The journalists would also be requested to present papers on the state's economy as well as discuss the changing strategies of the print, electronic, radio and internet media.

The international conference is scheduled from January 5 next year for two days. The media conclave will be part of "History of business in Gujarat and Sustainability of SEZs " theme. The institute expects around 150 speakers and paper presenters from different countries to address the conference.

"There is need for continuous interaction between the academia and the industry so that synergies between theory and practice are created," Prof Prashant Gupta, chairman for the conference told Business Standard.

The main agenda of the conference is to address issues related to global economy and marketing strategies that drive success across different economic environments and cultures.

Sub-themes include strategic marketing in the digital age, convergence of business paradigm, innovations in marketing practice and theory, targeting global markets for success, strategic dimensions of cross cultural issues in marketing, new frontiers of strategic brand management among others.

The conference will also include presentation of papers, case studies, and plenary sessions on the decided themes. Selected papers and case studies would also be compiled and published in the form of a book.
