Dear Students,

LAST WEEK WE ASKED:  Should more number of B-schools should join IPRS to bring in more transparency in placement process?

BEST RESPONSE

More From This Section

IPRS can check the transparency of the overall placement record and will be instrumental in removing the deceit projected by the B-schools to lure best and bright candidates. Well the system invites laurels from the industry but prominent institutes have raised question on the challenges posed in introducing this system in data fetching, mining and serious after effects on the stakeholders involved in the overall process including the recruiters. This has resulted in the dull response of this system from the institutes. Figuring these challenges will invite good response and will be a win-win situation for the all MBA aspirants.
- Siddhartha Bhatnagar, School of Petroleum Management, PDPU.

OTHER RESPONSES

More and more B-schools should look to join the IPRS enabling them to provide their placements records  data online to the general public, thus bringing in uniformity in reporting and non-reporting salary information related to placements and providing comparable and reliable information.
- Jatin Kashyap, Post Graduate Government College, Chandigarh.

B-schools must be brought under IPRS as placements reports are on top priority list of students when they take admission. IPRS will not only bring clarity for students but also accountability for B-school. In reality, students are the medium but the real effort is done is by ignorant parents who send huge money for their ward education. Hence keeping in Interest of both parents and students all B-school should be brought under IPRS.
- Nilaya Mitash Shanker, IIT Roorkee.

For B-schools its placement process & data is a crucial factor for its rankings and from students view point it gains importance as it becomes deciding factor for their future & Career. Linking all B-schools with IPRS would bring enhanced transparency and depict correct & clear picture of all B-school placements which will enable correct decision making for students, companies and will promote healthy competition among B-schools. Also in light of current scenario where more than 50% B-schools inflate their placement data, as an anti/antagonistic measure against data falsifications there must be mandatory implementation of IPRS.
- Priya Rajesh Dhruv, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Jamnagar.

Joining IPRS will standardize the placement reports and will give the transparent inside view of the placement records to the candidate opting for particular B- school. With a transparency in placement process, B-schools with low placement records will spend more on improving other facilities like infrastructure, faculty quality, research and accreditation to score more in rankings which in turn will improve the students quality and placement reports of coming years.
- Piyush Mittal, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh.

All the B-schools should compulsorily join the IPRS to bring transparency in the placement process. Both the students and the parents undergo a lot of financial hardships when it comes to funding a B-school education. IPRS would be an aid to all these students and parents who invest everything in a B-school course and undeniably it is their right to be informed about the placement scenario without any exaggeration. It would at-least give a clear picture of the return scopes prior to the investment, thereby omitting false hopes.
- Shubham Dasgupta, IBS Mumbai.

More number of B-schools should join IPRS as its objective is to bring uniformity in the manner in which B-schools report information related to campus placements. This would enable a fair comparison between B-schools on multiple parameters including return on investment. Moreover, the management education imparted by various B-schools and their campus recruitment are two prominent dimensions which catch the attention of both aspiring individuals and the general public. The popularity of today’s B-schools rests to a certain extent on their placement records, and B-school aspirants look forward to the release of placement reports and take decisions based on these.
- Saurabh Kumar, Institute of Management, Nirma University.

More number of B-schools should join IPRS in order to standardize data and also make date more reliable. It also helps to compare quality of different B-schools through which rankings can be declared. This process will bring uniformness among B-schools as the information is comparable and develops competitive spirit. IPRS meets the need for information both students and recruiters.
- K Satish Reddy, IFIM B-school, Bangalore.

Probably in most B-schools, placement cell as a team is coordinated by students under designated faculty in-charge. So, there are chances of salary figures being fudged in-order to maintain ranking and compete with peer institutes. This act of subterfuge is completely unacceptable at such level where B-schools are themselves education providers. There is no denying the fact that MBA is popular among the graduates due to hype created by high figures which may be for their vested interests but falsifies students' hopes. Thus, it should be mandatory for B-schools to join IPRS in-order to overcome illegitimate inflation in pay packages.
- Shivam Chhabra, Integral University, Lucknow.

One of the prime reasons for every student to join a premier B-school is to get placed with a handsome package.Almost every student in our country chooses a B-school by looking at the placement statistics as huge amount of money and risk are involved. Therefore B-schools should join IPRS as it will ensure transparency in the placement process and will also help in improving the brand equity of the institution. Also aspiring students will not be misguided by wrong data and can make wise career decisions based on correct information because IPRS will help in filtering out the required information.
- M Shilpa, IFIM B-school, Bangalore.

More institutes should join the IPRS as placement is one of the major parameters on the bases of which B-schools are ranked by leading magazines. If transparency is not maintained with respect to this matter it would not portray the true image of an institute where students invest no end to brighten their futures. Further more trusting the credibility of IIMA and collaborating with them in this respect would certainly benefit every b-school. This also increases the markets belief in recruiting able employees from institutes following standardized norms and ensure credibility in students recruited from a recognized group.
- Kritika Dhawan, IFIM B-school, Bangalore.

Indian B-schools should adhere to IPRS to bring transparency in the average package of the aspirants. Indeed, this will be helpful for the students to make comparison between different B-school in terms of their course fees and the average package bagged by the student in that B-school. In addition, they have the real time information about the placement of the B-school.
- Adnan Hussain, SDMIMD, Mysore.
