Swiss school offers to train hospitality grads

Swiss hospital management institution, Glion Institute of Higher Education and Les Roche International School of Hotel Management, is making a hardsell to attract more Indian students.
 
Currently Indians account for 7 per cent of its total student population and this school is targetting to push this up in an effort to cater to the fast growing hospitality sector in India.
 
Michael Huckby, vice-president, Laureate Hospitality Education, Montreux, Switzerland said here on Wednesday: "With the global hospitality sector offering prospects across various segments, more Indian students are taking advantage of the opportunity." Laureate Hospitality Education runs Glion and Les Roche.
 
This firm is on a drive to attract Indian students based on a data from World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), which states that Indian hospitality sector could see investments of around $11 billion in the coming few years.
 
According to the Swiss firm, hospitality has today come to encompass event management, sports and management in addition to the traditional hospitality sector. This institution with their aim to keep a multi-national culture today have people from over 80 nationalities studying at their campuses.
 
It could cost a student about Rs 12 lakh odd per annum for doing a degree programme at Glion or Les Roche. Les Roche and Glion deliver university-level hospitality education for leadership and managerial competencies.
 
The institution has a campus in China as "the country has favourable policies that allow foreign institutions set up local campuses," said Ganesh Kohli, educational consultant "" India, Laureate Hospitality.
