Canada-based University of Windsor has aggressive plans for expanding its network in India. |
The university, which has opened a liaison office in Chandigarh recently, plans to open two more liaison offices in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The university already has one office in Delhi and Hyderabad each. |
"The University of Windsor, was keen to set up its campus in India but the stringent rules and procedures in India hamper this," said Director International Outreach Office of the University of Windsor, Mel Broitman. |
Over 400 students from India were studying in the University of Windsor and with opening of this liaison office, the university expects a two-fold increase in number of Indian students who will apply to the university. |
"A good course in University of Windsor would cost a half of what it costs in the US. An Indian student has to spend Rs 5 lakh per annum to study at University of Windsor." |
"Considering the inclination of North Indians to migrate to Canada and the good financial health of people in Ludhiana it would be viable to open a similar office in Ludhiana," Broitman added. |

China and India are the most attractive destinations but the language barrier in China gives India an edge over China. Many foreign institutions are looking at the idea of Education City, proposed by the Government of Haryana near Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh at Saragpur, as a good platform to start operations in India. |

The Canadian government allows graduates to work in Canada after completion of course. This makes Canada a preferred destination for students. |
