XIMB awards degrees to 359 students

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, one of the country's premier B-Schools in the country, awarded management degrees to 359 students at the institute's 23rd convocation.

The graduating students belonged to Doctoral-level Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), Post-graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-business management), PGDM (rural management), PGDM (human resource management) and PGDM (part-time).

Speaking on the occasion, T V Narendran, managing director (India and South East Asia) of Tata Steel stressed on the 8Ps concept required for the students to succeed in professional life. The 8Ps consist of Passionate, Sense of Purpose, Having a Plan, Perseverance, Personal development, Personal life, People and Pace.

"Tonnes of passion are required to succeed in life. If you are passionate about something, you will naturally strive for excellence," Narendran said in his address to the graduating students.

Paul Fernandes, director, XIMB said, "This was the first time that a management school developed itself as a university."

The newly formed Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB), will operate its campus from Kurki, 12 km from the Bhubaneswar airport.

XIMB has been awarded with Century International Quality Era (CQE) Award 2014 in the Gold Category for Strong Commitment to Quality, Leadership, Technology and Innovation. This award was presented by BID GROUP ONE at Geneva, Switzerland recently. Fernandes received the award on behalf of XIMB. Similarly, the premier institute is recognized for outstanding contribution in the field of education and was awarded the Global Education Excellence Awards, 2014 organised by Prime Time Research Media Pvt Ltd.
