Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) expects to roll out a 15-month regular executive Post Graduate Programme in Management from June this year. This programme would cater to the needs of corporate executives and it will have the academic rigour of a two-year MBA course.
The proposed course for working executives would have an intake of 60 seats. The programme would comprise 12 months of academic input at XIMB and the remaining three months of industry projects, said an XIMB official. At present, the institute is awaiting the approval of the All India Centre for Technical Education (AICTE) for introducing this programme.
Apart from the programme for working executives, XIMB plans to introduce new courses in specialised domains like marketing and finance. The institute is also in the process of reviewing and redesigning its course curriculum to suit the changing needs of the industry.
Asked on the prospective tie-ups of XIMB with overseas B-schools, the official said, “The institute is looking for more tie-ups with overseas management institutes but the details are yet to be worked out. We are in the process of expanding our spread across management institutes in South East Asia and West Asia.”
XIMB already has tie-ups with ten international business schools for student and faculty exchange programmes. Last year 17 foreign students participated in their international exchange programme at XIMB and 12 students of XIMB took up their exchange programme in B-schools like Euromed Marseille and IESEG School of Management, both based in France.
On the progress of XIMB’s proposed second campus, he said, “XIMB is yet to be alloted land by the Orissa government for its second campus. The institute is scouting for private land and we are looking for land which is free from encroachment. However, we are confident of commissioning our second campus by 2011-12 which would coincide with our institute’s silver jubilee celebration.”
