 "102 non-A group stocks gain over 25% in one-week")
Shares of small-sized companies, mostly non-A group stocks, were in focus during the week with 102 scrip from these categories seeing their market value appreciate over 25% on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
For the week ended October 9, 2015, the Sensex gained 3.27%, or 858 points, to close at 27,080. The benchmark index recorded its sharpest week rally since week ended June 19, 2015, when it gained 3.37%. The BSE smallcap and midcap indices rose 2.8% and 1% during the current week.
Shree Renuka Sugars, the sole stock from the BSE A-group appreciated by 56% from Rs 7.38 to Rs 11.50 on the BSE. CIL Nova Petrochemicals (surged 78% from Rs 29 to Rs 51.50) and Pioneer Distilleries (73% from Rs 86 to Rs 149) have seen their market price appreciation by over 70% during the week.

Both these companies informed that there are no such informations/announcements which are price sensitive in nature and are pending for dissemination to the investors/general public through exchange.
HCL Infosystems locked in upper circuit for second straight day, up 10% at Rs 62.55 on the BSE. In past one week the stock zoomed 67% from Rs 29 after Derive Investments, an investment company run by Radhakishan Damani, bought nearly two percentage point’s stake in the company at an average price of Rs 49.38 apiece through open market.
On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, Derive Investments purchased 4.02 million equity shares or 1.8% stake of HCL Infosystems for Rs 19.85 crore via open market, the NSE and BSE bulk deal data shows.
Genesys International Corporation has rallied 60% from Rs 52 to Rs 83 after the company announced that Quikr, an online cross-category classifieds company, is making an investment in Genesys' venture A.N.Virtual World Tech Ltd.
Most of the sugar stocks such as Dwarikesh Sugar Industries, Dhampur Sugar, Upper Ganges Sugar and Sakthi Sugars have appreciated in the range of 39%-70% as falling output in the world's top growers, Brazil, India, China and Thailand and resurgent ethanol demand will help the sweetener market.
Almost half of respondents surveyed on Wednesday and Thursday said they expect prices to end the year above 14.50 cents per lb. This would be the first annual rise after four straight years of declines, the Reuters report. CLICK HERE TO READ FULL REPORT.
Sensex stocks
Among the Sensex stocks, Vedanta, Tata Motors, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) gained more than 10% each during the week.
The total investor wealth, measured in terms of cumulative market capitalisation (market-cap) of all listed companies on the BSE, rose to Rs 99,08,597 crore, up by Rs 253,905 crore from Rs 96,54,692 crore on October 1, the BSE data shows.
