 "38 smallcap stocks hit 52-week highs")
Tata Metaliks, Tata Sponge Iron, Kiri Industries, PVR, Deepak Nitrite, Indraprashta Gas and India Cements were among 38 stocks from the S&P BSE Smallcap index that hit their respective 52-week high on the BSE in the intra-day on Wednesday.
Shares of smallcap companies have outperformed the large-and-midcap stocks with the S&P BSE Smallcap index hitting 11,480 during intra-day trade today, trading at five-month high on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
In past one-week, the S&P BSE Smallcap index gained nearly 1% as compared to 1.4% fall in the S&P BSE Sensex and 0.58% decline in the S&P BSE Midcap index. On June 8, the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 27,021, its highest level since October 28, 2016.
Asahi Songwon Colors, State Bank of Mysore, Arshiya and Punjab Chemicals and Crop Protection have locked in upper circuit of 20% each.
At 2:32 pm, Nava Bharat Ventures, Nitin Spinners, Tata Sponge Iron, State Bank of Mysore, Shilpi Cable Technologies, Lumax Industries, Kohinoor Foods, Monsanto India and Fineotex Chemicals from the smallcap index were up 10%-19% on the BSE.
All three listed associate banks of State Bank of India (SBI) – State Bank of Mysore (up 20% at Rs 548), State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur (18% at Rs 590) and State Bank of Travancore (17% at Rs 469) – were trading higher by more than 15% each after the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the merger of five associate banks as well as Bharatiya Mahila Bank with SBI.
