A lacklustre week |
Rex Cano / Mumbai February 09, 2009, 0:15 IST |
The markets last week exhibited extremely lacklustre movement amid a thin range. The benchmark BSE 200 index was down almost 1.5 per cent at 3,378. Similarly, the portfolio value of Rs 10 lakh invested, at the start of the Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008, has now dropped to Rs 6.12 lakh as against Rs 6.21 lakh the week before. The benchmark index and the portfolio value of the funds invested are down almost 38 per cent till date.
The Smart Portfolios fund managers fared much better last week, with marginal declines in the range of zero to 0.5 per cent each. The four fund managers executed a total of nine trades last week. Out of this five were on the buy side, and four on the sell side.
Together, they bought shares worth Rs 88,321 and sold stocks worth Rs 85,052. Since the markets have not done much, and there has been little change in Smart Portfolios, today we bring you a quick review of which stocks have worked and which have not for our fund managers so far.
