A corpus of Rs 10 lakh invested in the benchmark on September 1, 2008 is worth Rs 7.31 lakh - a decline of nearly 27 per cent. Fund managers, barring Amar Ambani, with the same corpus have registered losses in the range of just 2-8 per cent each.

Interestingly enough, the BSE 200 index out-performed the main index, the Sensex, which gained 2 per cent last week, however it under-performed the Mid-cap and the Small-cap indexes which gained around 3.4 per cent and 4.9 per cent, respectively.

Fund managers continued to book profits following the recent sharp rally in the markets. Barring Shetty, others have just three to four stocks in their portfolio. Only three fund managers were active last week, and cumulatively they sold stocks worth Rs 0.89 lakh at the net level. Out of a total of 20 trades executed, 12 were on the sell side, and eight on the buy side.
