Ajwain and cardamom small prices rose in the wholesale kirana market today on increased buying by stockists driven by pick up in demand. Restricted supplies in the market also supported the uptrend in cardamom small and ajwain prices.
However, cardamom brown turned somewhat weak on lack of buying support. Traders said fresh buying by stockists against tight supply mainly pushed up ajwain and cardamom small prices.
Ajwain rose by Rs 500 to Rs 10,500-15,500 per quintal. Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra-bold varieties were remained demand and added another Rs 10 each to Rs 1,060-1,150, Rs 1,175-1,190, Rs 1,195-1,210 and Rs 1,265-1,290 per kg respectively.
However, cardamom brown (Jhundiwali) and (Kanchicut) lacked necessary buying support and declined by Rs 20 each to Rs 550-555 and Rs 595-640 per kg, respectively.
