Lacklustre activity in old and new economy stocks has seen the index continue to display a range-bound trend in the afternoon trades.The Sensex is now up 13 points at 6,433, while the Nifty is up four points at 2,019.Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 544, and HLL has inched up by Rs 2 to Rs 143. ITC, however, has edged lower by 1.10% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,284. SBI is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 620, while HDFC Bank is trading off-highs with a gain of 1.78% (Rs 9) at Rs 498.HPCL is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 389.ACC is up 1.21% (Rs 4) at Rs 355. While Gujarat Ambuja has gained 1.22% (Rs 5) to Rs 431, Grasim is up a tad at Rs 1,294.Tisco has gained 1.41% (Rs 5) to Rs 366. Hindalco at Rs 1,336 (up Rs 12), L&T at Rs 983 (up Rs 11) and BHEL at Rs 749 (up Rs 12 or 1.61%) are trading off-highs due to profit-taking.Infosys (down Rs 6 to Rs 2,045) is trading at subdued levels. Wipro and Satyam are down Rs 3 each at Rs 696 and Rs 384, respectively.Ranbaxy has dropped 2.14% (Rs 26) to Rs 1,175. Bharti (down Rs 6 or 2.78% to Rs 205) is trading on a subdued note.Select counters have notched up significant gains in a lacklustre trading session. Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals has soared 11.15% (Rs 3) to Rs 29. While Mirc Electronics has shot up 8.28% to Rs 26, Birla Corporation has jumped 7% to Rs 180. Ispat Industries has flared up 6.82% to Rs 23, and Orchid Chemicals has advanced 6.41% to Rs 343. Gujarat Narmada, HMT, RCF, NFL and United Phosphorous have advanced in a range of 4-5%.Dhampur Sugar Mills (up 9.27% to Rs 103), MRF (up 2.51% to Rs 2,624), Pentamedia Graphics (up 16.21% to Rs 11), RPG Life Science (up 1.92% to Rs 88) and JK Industires (up 4% to Rs 4.68) have hit the upper circuit breaker.Alka India is leading the volume table, with over 1.58 crore shares traded on the BSE so far, followed by Petronet LNG (69.94 lakh), Centurion Bank (62.41 lakh), Goyal Associates (61.59 lakh) and Sail (57.15 lakh), respectively.Reliance, with a turnover of Rs 46 crore, is leading the value chart, followed by Sail (Rs 34 crore), Petronet LNG (Rs 32 crore), Tisco (Rs 31 crore) and SBI (Rs 27 crore), respectively.
